Sensing Harm by Design
It’s a six-week online course, created and facilitated by Gesturing Towards Decolonial Futures Collective.
At a time when we are reaching tipping points and headed to the end of the viability of the current system, the course is designed to support us in expanding our capacity to navigate increasing volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity.
The current modern-colonial system we operate under requires harm by design. It requires violence towards other beings and the planet in order to exist, and thus it is intrinsically harmful and unsustainable.
In response to this, the course offers a container and methodology for interrupting patterns, letting go of harmful attachments and co-dependence with the system itself, and committing to a process of cognitive, affective, and relational “decluttering” as a continuous practice.
I’m interested in learning how to stay with the trouble, how to build relationships differently, and to weather the current and coming storms together without relationships falling apart. It feels like meaningful work for our times and I’m looking forward to what this course has to teach me about being better equipped to navigate complexities, uncertainties, and complicities and be more motivated to do difficult work — including the work of composting shit and building relationships grounded on trust, respect, reciprocity, consent and accountability.
